{"id":728,"date":"2006-08-31T09:38:23","date_gmt":"2006-08-31T17:38:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.edtechpost.ca\/wordpress\/2006\/08\/31\/educateinnovate-use-patents\/"},"modified":"2006-08-31T09:38:23","modified_gmt":"2006-08-31T17:38:23","slug":"educateinnovate-use-patents","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/scottleslie.ca\/edtechpost\/wordpress\/2006\/08\/31\/educateinnovate-use-patents\/","title":{"rendered":"educate\/innovate = use patents?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a title=\"Blackboard Educate Innovate\" href=\"http:\/\/www.educateinnovate.com\/\">http:\/\/www.educateinnovate.com\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p>OK, so at least <a href=\"http:\/\/www.blackboard.com\/\">they<\/a> did post <a href=\"http:\/\/www.educateinnovate.com\/blackboard\/2006\/08\/blackboard_pate.html\"><em>something<\/em><\/a> back on August 7 about the patent (a staff member posting a letter on behalf of Michael Chasen, the CEO), but otherwise, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.educateinnovate.com\/\">Blackboard &#8220;blog&#8221;<\/a> has been thunderously silent given the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.technorati.com\/search\/Blackboard%20patent\">amount of hoopla in the blogosphere<\/a> over the last month directly concerning them.<\/p>\n<p>Not really surprising, but also not what I&#8217;d call an &#8220;authentic&#8221; engagement with the concerns of their readers\/customers. (And my reaction to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.alt.ac.uk\/docs\/ALT_Blackboard_20060823.pdf\">notes from their conference call with ALT in the UK<\/a> is the same as <a href=\"http:\/\/www.downes.ca\/cgi-bin\/page.cgi?post=35609\">Stephen&#8217;s<\/a> &#8211; apparently I&#8217;ve found another <a href=\"http:\/\/www.parenthacks.com\/2006\/02\/uses_for_baby_w.html\">use for our stockpiled baby wipes<\/a> now that our kids are out of diapers).<\/p>\n<p>I did <a href=\"http:\/\/www.edtechpost.ca\/mt\/archive\/000751.html\">say that I was reserving judgement on the BB &#8216;blog&#8217; until there was more to judge<\/a>.
